Al Eid and Al Sharbatly to meet before the FEI tribunal

Apr 18, 2012

Today and tomorrow two riders from Saudi Arabia - Khaled Al Eid and Abdullah Al Sharbatly - have to stand in front of the FEI Tribunal in London due to allegations of prohibited medication. Both riders are provisional unallowed to ride any shows, which is a normal procedure.

Both riders are accused of having used the forbidden substances Phenylbutazon and Oxyphenbutazon (Controlled Medication Substances) - Sharbatly on his horse Lobster at the CSI3* show in Al Ain in beginning of February and Al Eid on his horse Vanhoeve at the CSI3* show in Riad at the end of last year.

Saudi Arabia has a team qualified for the Olympic Games. Sharbatly with his silver medal from the WEG 2010 and Al Eid with his bronze from the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 are considered two of the strongest riders for the team.
