John Whitaker has a new promising ride at his stable – the eleven year old Carnute-son Maximillian. The Danish-bred stallion was previously ridden by Swedish rider Anna Olsson. The new combination has already been elected for the British Nations Cup team in Lummen in May, and as the horse was registered in British ownership in December - John and Maximillian might have a chance to become a part of the Olympic team as well.
"It certainly gives me another chance," John has stated to Horse & Hound as his chances to ride the Olympics on home soil changed drastically when his top horse, Peppermill, got injured before christmas.
