Nisse Lüneburg and his 15 year old Calle Cool (Concerto) won the prestigious Hamburger Derby after a jump-off against Torben Köhlbrandt and C-Trenton Z (Carthago).
Nisse and Torben were the only ones to clear the difficult course and when Torben, as first out in the jump-off, got one down Nisse could do a safe clear round. We have to give extra credit to Calle Cool and C-Treton Z - two fantastic horses that managed to stay fresh and focused around the long and hard course.
The crowds in Hamburg are great and when Christian Ahlmann's stable jockey Judith Emmers managed to be the first one to go around the course with just one down it seemed like an explotion. When Torben Köhlbrandt and Nisse Lüneburg were clear it seemed like the public would never stopped cheering.
Two clear rounds and five riders on 4 faults was the result of today's Derby class. The rest of the riders had 12 faults or more and 14 riders were eliminated or retired.
Marcus Ehning was one of the few top riders on the world ranking who participated. His horse Campbel really seemed to enjoy the long course and spectacular fences, and the two crossed the finishline with only four faults
