With just under 50 days to go to the start of the 2012 Olympic Games, the final Olympic selection deadline is looming. All Olympic selections have to be finalised and approved by the NZ Olympic Committee selectors by the 9th of July at which date the NZ Olympic Entries are confirmed.
The NZ Olympic Eventing Team will be named on the 3rd July with potential combinations looking to impress the selectors this weekend at the Bramham International Horse Trials and then their final run will be at Barbury Castle at the end of June.
NZ Dressage rider Vanessa Way and her mount KH Arvan have one further international competition in which the combination can achieve the Olympic standard for Dressage set by ESNZ and the NZOC – at the Hartpury International Dressage Festival (CDI3*) in the UK on 6-8 July 2012. Until then the combination will compete at national level shows in the UK. If successful, Vanessa and Arvan would be the second NZ combination nominated for selection to the Olympics after Louisa Hill and Bates Antonello. NZ will have a maximum of 2 Dressage combinations at London and ESNZ has now confirmed that NZL will not field a Dressage Team at this year’s Olympics.
