Home win in the Grand Prix of Rotterdam

The Dutch rider Marc Houtzager and Sterrehof's Tamino (Numero Uno) took home win in the Longines Grand Prix Port of Rotterdam today. Twenty riders made it to the jump-off, and of these nineteen came to start and gave the audience a thrilling class. It was Jos Lansink with Cavalor Valentina van´t Heike ( Nabab de Reve) that chose not to ride the jump-off. 

Ramzy Al Duhami with Bayard van de Villa Theresia (Kashmir van Schuttershof) was first to go and he got two fences down on his way through the track. Next out was Nicola Philippaerts with Carlos V.H.P.Z (Chellano Z) and he did a really nice and speedy round with some great turns, but the luck wasn´t on his side so the last fence fell.

Then it was time for Nicola´s father Ludo Philippaerts to give it a go and even he had to settle with four faults after getting faults on the second element of the combination. Then came Rik Hemeryck with Quarco de Kerambars (Darco) who went in on second position after that the last fence fell.

Jamie Azcarraga on the fantastic stallion Gangster (Landprinz) was next in the ring. He didn´t really get the turn in to the combination so one pole fell to the ground. Hendrik-Jan Schuttert then entered the ring with Cerona (Celano) and did a fantastic clear round to take over the lead. Jens Fredricson aboard Lunatic (Landlord) was next to go and he got a great time but the fourth fence didn´t stay up.

Marc Houtzager was next on Sterrehof´s Tamino. The two had a fantastic flow around the track, and took over the lead from his Schuttert. Philipp Weishaupt with Monte Bellini (Montender) had two down, and crossed the finish line on eight faults and gave room for Laura Kraut and Cedric (Chambertin) to enter the arena. Cedric jumped amazing and really showed off a fantastic form, but they couldn´t do anything about Marc's time and went in on second position.

Then came Harrie Smolders with Exquis Walnut de Muze (Nabab de Reve) and the time would have been good enough, but even for him the last fence prevented him from taking over the lead. Denis Lynch with Lantinus (Landkönig) really went for it and was very fast between the fences, but with Lantinus taking his time in the air it was just good enough to take over the third position. Both Patrice Delaveau with Orient Express *HDC (Quick Star) and Penelope Leprevost with Mylord Carthago (Carthago) had to settle with four faults, and so did Marcus Ehning with Copin van de Broy (Darco). Jur Vrieling with VDL Bubalu (Baloubet du Rouet)was next to go and he managed to get great forward distances out of every turn and went in on third place.

Only three riders were left and Simon Delestre with Napoli du Ry (Baloubet du Rouet) was first out of them. Simon gave his all, but Marc and Laura was hard to beat today so Simon had to settle for the third place. Sergio Alvarez Moya got eight faults on the only eight year old Zipper (Apple Juice x Concorde) and Scott Brash with Hello Sanctos (Quasimodo v Molendreef) made the Dutch audience happy when he got four faults on the first element of the combination. That meant it was Dutch win in Rotterdam!
