Philippaerts took home Falsterbo Grand Prix

18 year old Nicola Philippaerts with Carlos V.H.P.Z won the CSI5* Grand Prix in Falsterbo today after a fantastic jump-off. He was followed by Brianne Goutal from America and the home star Peder Fredricson. The class had two rounds where the best elleven riders went on to the second round - six of them were clear, one with one time fault and the rest had four faults. Everyone kept their faults from the first round into the second round.

Penelope Leprevost with Topinambour by Heartbreaker was first to go in the second round. She started off in a very controlled canter but speeded it up towards the end and cleared the course in 51.40 seconds. Next out was Christina Liebherr with L.B. Callas Sitte Z (by Calvaro Z). Christina was faster than Penelope, but two fences fell on their way around the course. Jerome Hurel with Ohm de Ponthual (by Voltarie) had the first element in the combination down and ended on a total of eight faults as he had four faults from the first round as well.

Dermot Lennon was really near to have a big crash getting out of the combination, but Loughview Lou-Lou (by Limmerick) luckily managed to stay on her feet. Their total score ended at 4+8 faults. Next to go was Holger Wulschner who had an early fault and then rode a schooling round which ended him five faults - a total of six faults with his time fault from the first round.

Luca Maria Moneta was the first rider to enter the arena with zero fault from the first round, and he managed to clear also the second round with Neptune Brecourt. The Danish rider Linnea Ericsson with Damgaardens Extens by Crelido took over the lead by clearing the course in 53.36 seconds. She didn´t get to keep the lead for long though as the next rider Arthur Da Silva put up the speed and crossed the finish line at 52.08 seconds.

Peder Fredricson wanted to please the home crowed and so he did! He took over the lead with H&M Cash In (by Cash and Carry) and the crowed went crazy. Brianne Goutal was next to go though and the American girl took over the lead from Peder with her fantastic stallion Nice de Prissey (Rosire x Amarpur). Last to go was the fast Belgian rider Nicola Philippaerts riding Carlos V.H.P.Z (Chelano Z x Voltaire). Nicola did his job well as the last rider out and stole the win by shaving of additionally 0.29 seconds on Brianne's time, at 50.21 seconds.
