Philipp Weishaupt's Olympic horse Monte Bellini is out of the Olympics due to a fever that followed an infection. The stallion is currently being treated at a clinic. This means that the German reserve Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum with Bella Donna will step in on the team.
"With Philipp Weishaupt and Monte Bellini out, we have to give up another top pair. I am very sorry for Philipp, he and the stallion presented themselves really well over the whole season and Philipp was so happy about his first Olympic Games," said the German Chef d'Equipe Otto Becker to the German Federation.
As Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum with Bella Donna will be on the team, Thomas Voss with Carinjo will be the new reserves for Germany.
