50 000 euros for Maestro vd Donkhoeve

As previously announced, the selected horses of the 2012 Belgian Warmblood Foal Auction were from an unseen high level. With 120 applications, which is an increase of 50% compared to 2011, the selectors were able to look even more at the quality: a good conformation, great movements and an excellent pedigree. The high expectations were largely fulfilled as Maestro vd Donkhoeve (Darco x Calvaro) was paid for a record price of 50 000 euros. The average price per foal was 14 643 euros.
For the BWFA committee, the average price is more important than the record price of the evening. This average price doesn’t only stress the fine quality of the foals, but also the number of sold foals. The committee is very pleased: “With 14 643 euros, we set the second highest average ever, which is phenomenal”.

In the end, 20 of the 24 foals were sold for a total amount of 307 500 euros. They were sold to Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Great-Britain an Ukraine.

Most attention went off course to the highest seller Maestro vd Donkhoeve, a direct offspring of Darco, out of a Calvaro dam, one of the last descendants of the master, who died 6 years ago. Darco has been on the number 1 position for 5 years now of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses. This is unseen in the history of the WBFSH! The selling price of 50.000 euros smashed the previous BWFA-record of 37.000 euros.

Other headliners were Mr White vd Heffinck (Mr. Blue x Contact vd Heffinck) who switched owners for 23.000 euros and Milow vd Caatshoeve (Clinton x Heartbreaker) got sold for 18.000 euros. 3 were sold for 17.000 euros: Musica di Cantero (Nabab de Rêve x Caretino), Manhattan Quality (Non plus ultra x Clinton) and Marzel la d’Heyboght (Cooper vd Heffinck x Zurich) who got sold along with the dam.
