Stakkato entered the arena for the last time when he was thanked off in Warendorfat the Bundeschampionat on Sunday. The now 19 year old stallion had an amazing career with Eva Bitter, and the pair won the German Championship in 2010 and have taken part in several Nations Cups to mention some.
Stakkato did just two shows - Balve and St. Gallen - during 2011. He then got lame and a reason was never found. The famous stallion will now spend his retirement in Eva Bitter's stable after an arrangement that has been made with the owner Celle Landesgestüt.
The dark brown stallion has been very successful as a breeding stallion as well, and has several approved sons and has left fantastic showjumpers for the sport.
It is no coincidence that Stakkato was thanked off at the Bundeschampionat. The well jumping stallion won the final for the five year olds in 1998 with the unbelievable score 9.8 out of 10 possible. The year after he missed the gold medal with just three tens of a second in the jump-off.
