In CDI Grand Pix competition at the New England Dressage Association Fall Festival, held September 13-16 at the HITS-on-the-Hudson show grounds, it was a battle at the top between Cesar Parra, of New Jersey, and the Legacy Farms team of Lars Petersen and Melissa Taylor. Blue ribbons were divided among all three. Parra and the 10-year-old KWPN gelding Van the Man, owned by Michael Davis, were first in line for the grand prix blue ribbons by winning Friday’s CDI Grand Prix with a score of 69.745. Right behind them was the pair of Petersen and the 14-year-old Danish mare Mariett, owned by Marcia Pepper. They had a score of 69.043.
The placings were reversed in the CDI Grand Prix Special with Petersen and Mariett taking first on a score of 69.600, leaving second place to Parra and Van the Man with their score of 68.844. Petersen also had wins in the FEI Grand Prix with the 10-year-old gelding Wilano (Willemoes x Aleksander) and in Intermediaire I competition with Chico Roslev.
Taylor, who had finished sixth in Friday’s CDI Grand Prix, grabbed first place in the CDI Grand Prix Freestyle. Her partner was her own 18-year-old Danish gelding Schumacher Solyst. The pair scored a 70.300 to edge out second-place finishers Nicholas Fyffe, of Australia, and the 12-year-old PRE stallion Sentimiento I, owned by Tamara Gerber. They scored 69.325.
