Johannes Ehning with Salvador V (Calvados x Voltaire) took home the 1,50 - 1,55 class over two rounds that finished off the show in Vienna. Fourteen riders went clear in the first round and made it on to the second.
Edwina Tops-Alexander with Guccio (Quick Star x Cantus) was first to go and rode a great and safe round in 38.52 seconds. The home rider Stefan Eder on Concordija (Caretino x Landgraf) was next and he produced a fantastic round. Concordija jumped amazing and with full speed and short turns Stefan ended the course four seconds faster than Edwina and put some real pressure on the rest of the riders.
Ömer Karaevli and Dadjak ter Puttenen (Toulon x Vanitas) were clear as well after some luck on the b-element of the combination. Ludger Beerbaum didn't seem to give it all today and ended on 36.18 with Chaman (Baloubet du Rouet x I Love You).
Gerfried Puck aboard 11th and Bleeker (Prominez x Pinocchio) had to settle with four faults together with Michael Whitaker and Ingliston Twister (Tornado x Voltaire). Rodrigo Pessoa with HH Rebozo (Tlaloc La Silla x Ramiro Z) started off really well but in the end two poles fell and they ended at eight faults. Emanuele Gaudiano and Chicago (Chambertin x Quinar) were out of rhythm and got 12 faults.
You could hear who the next competitor was already before he entered the arena as Marcus Ehning's Cornado NRW (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat) always likes to announce his presence. As always Marcus made the jump-off look like a walk in the park and ended the course in 37.25 second which was good enough for a fifth place.
Johannes Ehning was next to go and he really wanted to win! He and Salvador V gave their all from the beginning to the end and managed to get great forward distances out of every turn. Crossing the finish line they were a second faster than Stefan Eder.
Another combination fighting for victory was Steve Guerdat and Sidney VIII (Carry x Quidam de Revel). Unfortunately the b-element of the combination fell to the ground. Patrice Delaveau is always fast. Together with his new ride Carinjo HDC (Cascavelle x Landgraf) he got a really nice jump-off, but the second last fence fell. Carinjo seems to enjoy Patrice's speed though.
Nick Skelton and Unique (Indoctro x Voltaire) had som luck in the combination, but then the next fence fell instead. Jessica Springsteen was last to go and had a good speed around the course, but also Jessica became victim of the b-element of the combination and had to settle with ninth place.
