At Kingsland Oslo Horse Show the biggest class of the day went to Scott Brash and Bon Ami (Pavarotti vd Helle x Richebourg). The British Olympic team gold medalist took home the 1.50 class sponsored by Spillers after an exciting eleven horse jump-off, where Scott was last to go.
First to go in the jump-off was Rolf-Göran Bengtsson on the impressive stallion Carusso LS La Silla (Montebello La Silla x Joost). Rolf really put pressure on the remaining ten riders with a well calculated round; he had some great turns and Carusso jumped super today. The Swedish rider stopped the clock on 41.26 – and the time looked hard to beat. The track was reduced to seven fences that included a combination, with room for short turns and a gallop to the final oxer. Only four of the other riders managed to do clear rounds though. One of them was Max Kühner on the lovely Clintop 2 (Clinton x Calvaro), but the German rider went for a steady version and crossed the finish line on 43.67 seconds. Both Carsten-Otto Nagel on the amazing Corradina 2 (Corrado I x Sandro) and Natale Chiaudani on Fixdesign Almero 12 (Asti Spumante x Gajus) unfortunately had the a-element in the combination down.
The next clear came from Peder Fredricson on H&M Cash In (Cash and Carry x Corofino I), also steady and controlled on 49.05 seconds. Luca Moneta was also clear on the characteristic Neptune Brecourt (Cumano x Kayack), and with the time of 41.68 it was eventually good enough for third. The fastest time of the day came from today’s first winner Gregory Wathelet on Kronos d’Ouilly (Uzelien x Graphit), but unfortunately he had a pole down. As did Spartacus TN (Stakkato x Grannus) who jumped amazing under Marco Kutscher today! Last to go Scott came to Oslo from Birmingham with a win under his belt, and continued his good form by blazing around the jump-off track shaving off 0.97 seconds on Rolf’s time – landing the win for Great Britain.
