Among six riders to the jump off in the Rikstoto Grand Prix, Marco Kutscher was the one with the best time and no faults. That made him and the promising stallion Spartacus TN the winning team.
Two of the riders in the jump off were in the jump off in the class last year as well. Gregory Whatelet won the class last year, but this year he had to face the fact that three fences came down for him and the French stallion Riesling de Monselet by Kashmir van Schuttershof/Laeken.
Last year the Spanish elegant rider Sergio Alvarez Moya came second. This year he aimed for the victory as the second last rider in the jump off with his lovely gelding Carlo by Contender/Cascavelle. The horse is supple, energetic with a big scope and a very nice canter. It looked ever so easy for them to go clear, and as the last rider out Marco Kutscher knew that he had to speed up in order to make it to the top.
And so he did. As Carlo, Kutschers nine year old stallion Spartacus TN by Stakkato/Grannus is a delightful horse. The big stallion made everything look easy and jumped with great balance throughout the course. Combined with a ground covering canter and the fact that he was excellently ridden by his skilful rider, this resulted in a wonderful clear round done in 33,54 seconds. Kutscher was the winner, and this surprised him. – We are quite a new partnership and this was his first Grand Prix for him. He has not done so much competing as he has been breeding a lot. But he is a big horse with a big drive and he jumped very well. The course was very nice, and I am hoping for the same tomorrow.
Germanys Carsten Otto Nagel/Cazaro by Chambertin/Athlet Z came third with Simon Delestre from France following as fourth with Qlassic Bois Margot by L’Arc de Triomphe/Galoubet A.
The home-crowd was also delighted to see a Norwegian rider in the jump off. Ole Kristoffer Meland rode a very nice clear round in the first phase with his Norwegian Warmblood CC Top by Ladiesdream/Nimmerdor. In the jump off the pair had one fence down and finished fifth. – I am very happy, this is my greatest achievement so far. I do not have that much experience on this level yet. I am happy to compete with these riders and to get a result like this. CC Top is a very nice horse with a lot of scope, I am really looking forward to the future with him.
