John Whitaker with Argento best in Odense

Oct 21, 2012

John Whitaker took home the win at the CSI3* JBK Horse Show Grand Prix in Odense Saturday evening riding Argento (Arko III x Gasper). It was a difficult course and only five of the forty riders were clear in the first round. The most faults were caused by the triple combination as number eleven. It was a tricky distance in to the triple combination; an oxer - a big vertical and another oxer with two strides between a and b and one strideto the c-element.

The jump-off started off with an oxer and then three strides to a vertical. A right turn to an oxer followed and then a short right turn again to a vertical. Then came a left turn to a vertical and then a long ride to the combination that now just consisted of the b and c element. A long left turn to the last oxer finished off the jump-off.

The home rider Sören Knudsen with Harry K (Equest Carnute x Robin Z II) was first to go in the jump-off but he had to see three poles fall. Next out was Line Raaholt with Diablo (Darco x Pilot) and she did a great jump-off, but the last fence fell.

Hendrik-Jan Schuttert with Cerona HS by Celano was the first one to clear the jump-off in a time of 35,54 seconds. John Whitaker and Argento then managed to shave 2,5 seconds off Henrik-Jan's time as the next to go and took over the lead. Last to go was Marcus Ehning with Cornado NRW (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat I). Marcus really gave his all especially towards the last fence, but he couldn't do anything about John's time and had to settle for second place.
