Victories for Brash and Ribas in Vienna

Nov 10, 2012

The Wiener Pferdefest 2012 saw Scott Brash and Carlos Motta Ribas on top Friday. No other than the London 2012 Olympic team champion Scott Brash won the Vienna Challenge. The time was extraordinary good; 53.32 seconds aboard Bon Ami – more than three seconds faster than second placed Katharina Offel on Cathleen. Germany's Andreas Brenner with Showman finished third, into the midst of the world's best showjumping riders – ahead of Alvaro de Miranda/Show Show in fourth and Gert-Jan Bruggink/Cash Junior in fifth.

Carlos Motta Ribas showed some Brazilian samba in the Vienna Opening um den Preis von Alpenspan. The first five-star class of the show was a super speedy one, and the world's elite jumped the 1.45 meter track. 26 of the 54 riders remained clear, so a quick time was even more important. Ribas rode Ronaldo, and produced a fast, easy and error-free round. Belgium’s Francois Mathy Jr. and Polinska des Isles ended second, and Marc Houtzager aboard Sterrerhof's Uppity third.
