Blue Hors Romanov sold to Edward Gal's sponsor

Jan 11, 2013

World Champion Edward Gal has had the ride on elite stallion Blue Hors Romanov since September 2011, and now Blue Hors Stud have decided to sell Romanov to Gal's Austrian sponsor, Gaston Glock

– Of course it is with somewhat mixed feelings that we have chosen to sell Blue Hors Romanov to Edward Gals Austrian sponsor Gaston Glock, Blue Hors' director Esben Møller initiates. The successful stallion arrived at World Champion Edward Gal’s stable in September 2011, and their partnership has developed very positively and has among other great performances resulted in a second place at the World Cup qualifier in Odense in October 2012, where the pair scored almost 81% in Grand Prix Freestyle. This result also marked the starting point for actual negotiations between Gaston Glock and Blue Hors, negotiations which have now been finalised.

– Romanov will be 13 years old this year, so hopefully he has many good years in the sport ahead of him. The partnership between Edward Gal and Romanov works perfectly, and I could not imagine which rider where to take over if the stallion came back to Blue Hors, continues Esben Møller. He is therefore delighted that the stallion will get the chance to show his great qualities in the sport, but of course it is with sadness that Blue Hors says goodbye to a breeding stallion which has helped to make the stallion station Blue Hors known and recognized far beyond the borders of Denmark.

Romanov is quite a personality, and his value to the Danish breeding and dressage sport has been immense. Over the years he has sired several top horses in both breeding and sport. Among the best known are the gold winner from the World Champions for Young Horses in Verden, Germany, in 2009 - Hønnerups Driver and the premium stallion Skovens Rafael, who was a finalist at the championships the same year. Blue Hors Romanov (by Rohdiamant x Basic Stein II x Akzent II) was named "Stallion of the Year" in Danish Warmblood in 2011, he is also proclaimed Elite Stallion in Danish Warmblood and approved for breeding in Oldenburg, Hanover, Westphalia and Rhineland.

The stallion has been purchased by Edward Gals sponsor Gaston Glock (Glock Horse Performances Centre) with sport in mind, but Blue Hors will still be able to provide frozen semen from the stallion.

– We also have the full brother of Romanov, the 8-year-old stallion Rockefeller, in our stallion collection, and his offspring looks to be very promising, says Esben Møller.
