It was Ludger Beerbaum and Chaman (Baloubet du Rouet x I Love You) that ended up on top in the LGT Private Banking Preis in Zürich on Saturday. Once again it was a difficult course build by Rolf Lüdi. The line at fence 8 - 9 - 10 was rebuild during the course walk as the riders thought it was unfair and dangerous for the horses. Even after the rebuilding the line caused a lot of problems as did the triple combination towards the end of the course. Out of the 44 riders, 10 qualified for the jump-off.
First out in the jump-off was in-form Marc Houtzager and Sterrehof's Opium (Polydor x Bormio). Marc made some short turns, but didn't go all in and ended the jump-off clear in 38.26 seconds. One of two home riders - Christina Liebherr with LB Con Grazia CH (Con Spirito x Karondo) - was next to go. To the home crowd's disappointment she ended the jump-off on four faults.
Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum rode Peter Wylde's old ride Unbelievable (Manhattan x Democraat). The gelding stumbled after the third fence so it was a close call for both of them, but they stayed on their feet. After losing some time they went in on second place in 38.28 seconds. The second home rider - Werner Muff with Landthago (Landjunge x Carthago) - ended the course with eight faults, while Katharina Offel/Fidji Island had to settle with 12 faults.
Gerco Schröder has just been riding Seoul (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Lancer) for a short period of time, but the two of them seem to be a good match. After a great jump-off Gerco took over the lead with a time of 37.77 seconds. He didn´t keep the lead for long though, as Ludger Beerbaum was next to go. Chaman seem to be in a great shape and the pair shaved off more than a second on Gerco's time, pushing him down to second.
Luciana Diniz produced a safe round with Fit for Fun (For Pleasure x Fabriano) and cleared the course. Jeroen Dubbeldam was in the jump-off with Quality Time TN (Quantum x Cantus) today as well. The Dutch rider and the lovely grey stallion were clear and went in on third place with a time of 37.97 seconds.
Alexandra Fricker with Albfuehren's Memphis (Quinar x Carthago) was last to go. The well jumping Memphis cleared the jump-off as well, and went in on fourth place.
