The BWP-stallion Pacino (s. Diamant de Semilly) had to be euthanized yesterday according to Studforlife.com. The only nine year old stallion was successful with the Irish rider Clement McMahon and was named ‘Horse of the Year’ in Ireland last year.
McMahon and the son of Diamant de Semilly had great success together in 2012. They were double clear for the winning Irish team in the Top League in Dublin as well as being on the winning team at Hickstead. The two also won the Mulingar Grand Prix in June. The Belgian bred stallion was only eight years old achieving this. Earlier he was Irish Champion as a five-year-old and at the age of six the was in de final round of the World Championships for Young Showjumpinghorses in Lanaken.
The Selle Français-approved stallion descends from a very successful family: His mother Dira Courcelle competed at national level and the approved stallions Hermes de Reve (s. Quitto de Baussy) and Malito de Reve (s. Cumano) are half-brothers to Pacino.
