Swedish breeders may use Kannan and Don Schufro again

Feb 11, 2013

Swedish breeders may use top-sires Kannan and Don Schufro again for breeding. The stallions were approved by the SWB Studbook before, but because of the Swedish animal health care regulations, they couldn’t be used in the Scandinavian country.

The Swedish studbook is now applying rules of exception for well-proven and extremely talented stallions making it possible for Swedish Warmblood-breeders to use them.

Kannan (s. Voltaire) lost his license to a minor OCD-remark from KWPN despite a whole healthy competition career next to his breeding duties. Blue Hors Don Schufro has two years of offspring in Sweden. When he suffered from testicular hernia, Swedish law deemed him unfit to breed as it is heritable. After that, Swedish breeders each year shipped a few mares Denmark to get in foal by Don Schufro.
