Haßmann takes the Mercedes-Benz Cup in Neumünster

Feb 17, 2013

It was Felix Haßmann and Horse Gym's Balzaci (Balou du Rouet x Ex Libris 2) that won the Mercedes-Benz Cup in Neumünster on Saturday. The 29 year old had one of only three double clear rounds in this 54-rider 1.50 class, which featured lots of strong names. With a time of 36.59 seconds in the jump-off, Felix took home the 7,500 Euros first prize. A total of 14 riders reached the jump-off, including the world number one Christian Ahlmann and the four-time Olympic champion Ludger Beerbaum. But neither of them could do anything about Haßmann, who left them all behind.

Runner-up was Italian rider Emanuele Gaudiano on DS Uppercut (Nonstop x Feinschnitt I), with a time of 37 seconds. Third was one of the most successful riders of Dutch jumping, the Olympic champion in 2000, Jeroen Dubbeldam with the Holsteiner stallion Quality Time TN (Quantum x Cantus).

In the other 1.50 class of the day – the DZ Bank Preis – it was Holger Wulschner that took home the win. On the only 8 year old Cha Cha Cha G (Casall La Silla x Le Grand 16), the German rider produced one of two double clears. With a time of 43.24 it was yet another win for Germany, with Gert-Jan Brugging from Holland ended second on Cash Junior (Cash x Landadel) at 43.57 seconds. Third was Philipp Weishaupt with four faults aboard the Argelith Stakkato-mare Souvenir 29.
