Smolders and Emerald take Grand Prix win

Dutch show-jumper Harrie Smolders and his fab jumping Emerald (s. Diamant de Semilly) were victorious in the Grand Prix at the second week of the Atlantic Tour in Vilamoura, yesterday. In the jump-off, the rider of Axel Verlooy’s yard, was only a split second faster than his swift French rival Julien Gonin riding Gina A (s. Cordalme Z).

Except top rider Smolders, Axel’s son Jos Verlooy was also on the podium. The 17 year-old rider and his mount Domino (s. Thunder vd Zuuthoeve) was was over a second slower in the jump-off than his tutor Harrie Smolders. Smolders needed 43.06 seconds to clear the course. Julien Gonin needed 43.84 seconds to cross the finish line.
