David Will claims last Rolex FEI World Cup qualifier

Mar 18, 2013

This Sunday, German rider David Will and Colorit (v. Coriano) won the World Cup qualifier at Den Bosch. It was the first performance at Indoor Brabant for the 24 year-old rookie.

This was the last qualifier in the Western European league, creating pressure on all the riders from rank 16 to 23 which needed more points to get to the final at Gothenburg in April. Out of 38 riders in total, only 9 classified for the jump-off. Even though Louis Konickx’s 13-fence round was tricky throughout, the Rolex triple combination (oxen-vertical-oxer) and the last line (combination to an oxer with a difficult turn to a vertical by the entrance) which caused the most challenge to riders such as Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Geir Gulliksen and Maiju Mallat.

24-year-old David Will riding Colorit made the round seem flawlessly easy with a speedy time of 35.73 seconds, taking the win of the category. Edwina Tops-Alexander and Itot du Chateau were the closest to David’s time, crossing the finish line with 0.11 seconds behind and ending up in second place. Marcus Ehning and Copin van de Broy (v. Darco) placed third with a time of 36.68 seconds.
