At the World Championships for six and seven year old eventers in Le Lion d’Angers this weekend, Michael Jung took the title aboard Star Connection. The championship for six year old eventers had a thrilling final, because the differences were small in the standings after dressage and cross.
The gold medal of Jung and Star Connection has got extra shine, because the brand new World Champions were both in the cross as in showjumping without penalties and ended on their dressage score of 42.70. A remarkable achievement because Michael Jung is back in the saddle for only a week after he broke his collarbone.
The silver medal was for Christopher Burton with the KWPN-bred Dutch Man Retto by Colandro. The bronze medal was for Piggy French on the Irish bred Cooley Dream Extreme by Cruising.
The second highest placed Dutch bred was a mare by Verdi, Nyala d'Arville, ridden by Lara De Liedekerke. The combination ended on place twelve.
