Jur Vrieling wins first leg FEI World Cup in Oslo

Nov 5, 2014

With only seven hundreds of a second Jur Vrieling and the KWPN stallion VDL Zirocco Blue N.O.P. won the first leg of the FEI World Cup series in Oslo this afternoon. In the thrilling jump-off Vrieling beat German Marco Kutscher aboard Cornet's Cristallo and the Olympic champions Steve Guerdat and Nino des Buissonnets.

Nine out of 39 competitors battled in the jump-off for huge amount of prize money. First to go Bart Bles and Lord Sandro DDH set the time with a good clear round with sharp turns. His 37,10 seconds was good for the fifth place eventually. The following combinations were faster, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum on big striding Fibonacci clear in 36,89, Steve Guerdat and his very fast Nino were again a second and a half faster (35,22). Then Jur Vrieling came into the arena and risked everything with his relatively inexperienced VDL Zirocco Blue. He rode the last line in five strides and stopped the clock on 34,22 seconds. Only the last to go Marco Kutscher got really close, by a little halt in the last line he lost the victory. So Jur Vrieling and the Mr. Blue stallion took the first World Cup-points.
