Dutch showjumpers started this World Cup season very well. When Jur Vrieling had top placings in Scandinavia, Leon Thijssen was victoriuos in Leszno, Poland. Yesterday he won convincingly the 3* qualifier aboard Haerttago. Also his compatriots Sander Geerink, Bart Haselbekke and Robert Vos were well underway, they became seventh, eighth and ninth.
Only five combinations reached the jump-off and Leon Thijssen on his quick Heartbreaker-daughter rode an amazing fast time. He was clear in 38,79 seconds, three seconds faster than the number two Ales Opatrny with Acovaro (s. Acodetto I) and no less than seven seconds faster than Piotr Morsztyn on the twelve year old KWPN-bred Osadkowski Van Halen (s. Hors La Loi II). The Polish rider became third before the home crowd.
Sander Geerink on Robinson, Bart Haselbekke on Wigeunerin and Robert Vos with Interline H had four foults in the first round.
Preceding the World Cup qualifier Robert Vos won the Gold Tour Two Phases aboard Carat and in the Diamond Tour on Monday Vos won aboard Interline H.
There was also success for Team Nijhof in Leszno. Stable jockey Hanno Ellerman and the stallion Dakar TN by Nabab de Reve won the final for the six year old jumpers.
